Pakistan’s National Cyber Emergency Response Team (NCERT) has warned of an increased threat of cyberattacks targeting government and critical infrastructure sectors, citing rising tensions across South and Central Asia, Express News reported. In an advisory issued on Monday, the agency said that hackers could exploit the current regional instability to launch cyberattacks against Pakistan. "Government institutions and sensitive infrastructure could be major targets for cyberattacks," the advisory stated. It further warned that sectors including defence, finance, and media are particularly vulnerable. Attackers may deploy spear phishing, malware, and deepfake tactics to breach security systems. "Hackers may attempt to steal confidential information and compromise the privacy of organisations," the advisory added. Authorities have urged institutions to bolster their cybersecurity defences and remain vigilant against potential threats.
